This backpack is divided into three large individual compartments to keep contents in easy to access zones. Original bridge-like webbing keeps the bag closer to the back without bulky frames. Handmade in Japan.
Material

Proof Line Nylon
This rainwear fabric, while soft and lightweight, is completely waterproof. What looks like one layer is actually three layers bonded together, with each layer having a different function. The outer layer is durable water resistant treated nylon that feels like cotton, the center is a microscopically thin membrane that blocks wind and makes the garment waterproof, while the inside layer is ultralight mesh. This soft shell material keeps your things dry. Postalco’s original fabric.
Treatment safety
Our fabric is never treated with C8 water resistant chemistry (PFOA) which can lead to health problems. Woven in Japan from PFOA-free 100% nylon.
Care
・Hand wash with a mild detergent or dry clean.
・Do not store wet.
・Avoid direct sunlight and dry in shade.
・Ironing (low heat) smoothes the surface and helps improve water repellency.
・Place fabric layer over item while ironing.
・Durable water repellency may decline with use and washing over time.

"Why don't you take off ya backpack in the train?"
“A gruff voice says behind me. This is my first commute on the rush hour New York City subway. Growing up in spread out Los Angeles I never once thought to take off my backpack to save space. At the age of 22 I suddenly realized how much a backpack can stick out. A chunky backpack gets stuck on stuff, knocks things over, and bumps into people. Thanks to that train rider, I learned that a good backpack blends into the body and doesn’t annoy people around you."

・Large and small interior pockets inside to stay organized.
・Easy to grip leather zipper pull.
・Comfortable double layer webbing handles.

・Fits 14” or 16” MacBook Pro.
Three large pockets
When everything ends up in one large backpack pocket, it’s like a basketful of fish: it is hard to find the one thing you want. This backpack is divided into three large individual compartments to keep contents in easy to access zones. One divider can also be removed creating two sections.
Cushioned pocket
The main compartment contains a cushioned pocket that fits a laptop (14" or 16" MacBook Pro) and other papers.
Front zipper pockets
The two large zipper pockets on the front are made with dividers that will keep the pocket volumes open even if the other pockets are filled.
Designed for comfort
When carrying any weight in a soft backpack, often the bag uncomfortably sags away from the wearer's back. Frame structures or thick foam cushions, used to prevent this problem, end up reducing valuable storage space in the pack. We developed a bridge-like design that keeps the bag closer to the back without bulky frames or overly thick cushions. The shoulder straps connect and continue to the bottom of the bag, structurally supporting the contents.
Feels good in hand
Double layer webbing handles make it easy to carry this bag by hand, and long zipper pulls allow the bag to be opened and closed while wearing gloves.
Quick access pouch
The bag's top surface has a quick access zipper pouch large enough to hold a wallet, phone, and other essentials.
About Bridges
Gustave Eiffel who made the Eiffel Tower was a bridge specialist. To build the world's tallest tower he applied what he knew about bridge making. He really took a horizontal thing and made it vertical. Inspired by the way that a bridge divides and balances weight we made these lightweight bags that don't hide their structure. There is a layer of fabric supported with a series of webbing straps. The lightweight architectural strength of the Postalco Bridge Bags is combined with our original fabric.
Carrying research
Even in different ages and cultures, people’s methods of carrying on their backs are strikingly similar.
Thinking of handles
We design handles to match human hands, but our hands themselves are so flexible that handles can take on many shapes.
Staying the same
100 years apart but still carrying in essentially the same way.
Clever storage and easy access
Ever feel like you have a small house on your back? A backpack is like carrying a small house.
Object Layers Around the Body
Marshall McLuhan writes about objects that we use around us as extensions of our bodies. The wheel is an extension of our feet, telephones are extensions of our voices, and hats are extensions of our hair. Each thing we add to our bodies is an attempt to fill in some missing need. Will our bodies ever be complete?
Learning from Japan
The craftspeople, suppliers, and small workshops found in Japan make things not to be found anywhere else. We are fortunate to work with family businesses that are so focused on their craft. Don’t put Postalco items on a shelf or in a drawer. Their beauty is revealed through daily use. They will help you feel good at home and be ready in a meeting.
