Tailored workwear that allows remarkable movement crafted with soft Japanese denim.
Traditional jean jackets are armor. Inflexible outer shells. Lift up an arm, the jacket pulls up, and your soft underbelly is exposed. We wanted to make a jacket with beautiful Japan-made denim. But one that feels good to move in. To allow maximum free movement we created a new kind of jacket. After making prototypes and working with an expert patternmaker we arrived at this simple looking but unique shape to allow your arms the most flexible motion we’ve ever felt in a jean jacket.
Side seam pockets. Large inside pockets about 20cm (7.8”) wide. Straight cut. Polished metal zipper. Handmade in Japan.
Size

Please email us shop@postalco.com with your questions about size, fabric, or fit anytime.

Why do we make so few sizes?

We pattern our clothing to fit as many bodies as we can. Less size variation also means less wasted fabric and less overproduction.

Clothing for men? Or women?

Postalco items have always been non gendered. Beginning with the very first Legal Envelopes we made back in 2000.

Material

Our Denim
Woven in the Fukuyama area by a traditional weaver of denim with over 60 years of experience. We love this denim because it is not too heavy or stiff but still ages in the way that makes good denim famous. Fukuyama has a rich history of textiles, dating back to kimonos as well as contemporary workwear.

We use no stretchy synthetics in our denim so it won't lose its shape after one season. Unfortunately elastane, the rubbery fibers added to jeans to make them stretch, often breaks down before the rest of the fabric, leaving you with a floppy shapeless garment. How do we make clothing without stretch denim that still feels good? The remarkable flexibility felt wearing this is entirely due to the fine-tuned twill weave and unique patternmaking. 100% cotton.

This medium weight denim has a natural irregularity in the yarn with a streaky texture that becomes more apparent with use. Like the grain on a piece of driftwood. Most jeans have the threads visible in front dyed dark while in the back the threads are white. These threads visible on the back are dyed black for a mellow aging that stays darker than usual. 11oz.
Care

・Delicate machine wash 30℃ with like colors.
・Warm iron as needed, or dry clean.
・Do not bleach.
・Shade dry only, no tumble dry.

・There is a small chance the color may crock or bleed, especially when wet.
