Material

Geology Goatskin Leather

The earthy surface of this leather resembles tiny mountain ranges and river valleys as seen from high up in the atmosphere. These miniature landscapes are created by shrinking the leather. As part of the tanning process the leather grain is tightened and shrunken until the distinctive textured surface is created. The naturally shrunken skin becomes smaller, giving the craftsmen less material to work with but more importantly the leather still retains its softness. Since shrunken leather is more dense, it is more durable. Irregular surfaces textures and colors within each skin are the sign of naturally shrunken leather. We consider these natural variations while making each piece, imparting its unique character. Made in Japan.

Inside leather

Calfskin is also vegetable tanned and aniline dyed. The grain is very fine and tightly packed allowing it to be durable and soft at the same time. With use it will continue to soften and develop a patina.

Lining

Why use leather lining inside the pockets? Your eyes may not see it but your hands do. Pigskin feels great as a lining material and will last much longer than fabric linings.

Care

Leather

With use the shine will mellow and surface scratches picked up along the way will get worked in. The color will also deepen. Leather may fade with use and colors may bleed, especially when wet. If your item gets wet gently blot it with a soft dry cloth to prevent staining and rippling. Shade dry. If the surface appears dry, please use a mild cream over the entire leather surface(such as clear Delicate Shoe Cream)to replenish the moisture. Test cream in an inconspicuous place first. Be sure to use only clear cream as any color will rub off. We use a toothbrush to apply cream in order to get it evenly into the nooks and crannies. Oily leather creams, such as mink oil, will leave a stain so we do not recommend using them. Please be aware that applying care cream will darken the leather. Be sure to apply an even coat of care cream to the entire surface, not just in one area, to avoid staining. Do not leave the product in direct sunlight or under strong lights for long periods as it may cause discoloration or fading.

Use to complete
Leather is naturally soft so we never want to overpower the material with a construction that is too heavy. Wallets are made to carry bills and cards, both of which are pretty stiff. We keep our wallets soft so that only when cards are inserted, the wallet feels complete. Often products might look good on the shelf, but when you actually try to use them and fill them with your things, they just feel stiff or clumsy.

Our most spacious wallet
Large enough to hold all your essentials, you can go shopping with just this.

Ages beautifully
Three types of leather used— Geology Goatskin, calfskin and pigskin. Leather is vegetable tanned to avoid using the toxic chemicals used in other tanning methods. Will soften and develop a natural sheen, and look better with use.
